Totally Techniques – Shaker Cards

Welcome to March’s Totally Techniques International Design Team Blog Hop!  I am Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Canada.

This month we are focusing on making Shaker Cards!  Shaker Cards are fun to make and even more fun to shake!  All of the little bits move around in the card bringing a little fun for the recipient! I wanted to share with you a very easy way to make a shaker card using a clear envelope!  Check it out: I love how the shaker bits can move along the whole card.  Here is how I did this:

1. Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to 4″x5.25″ and slide into a clear envelope.
2. Use a piece of Tear & Tape along the whole side of the envelope that will fold over to keep the envelope snug to the paper.
3. Add all of your “confetti” pieces (I used a mixture of sequins and paper cut from the thinlits).
4. Close the top of the clear envelope and trim the edge if necessary.
5. Use Tear & Tape to adhere the envelope to the card front.  This will ensure that it stays put since it’s a heavier item.
6. Embellish as desired.

I love the How Sweet it Is Suite in the Occasions Catalogue!  All of the fun candy shapes make it easy to add to the shaker part of the card.

This card was a birthday card for my friend Cindy Baughman from Stamped With Aloha. I also made a card for her daughter Jess who came on a hike with us to take some pictures while we were visiting Oahu.  I love how the clear envelope can be cut down to make the shaker part smaller:

This time, I cut the Designer Series Paper to 3.25″ x 4.25″ and slid the piece to the very bottom of the envelope so it filled it in.  Then I cut off the top, leaving a flap to tape down after I filled the shaker bits.  Cute right?!
