Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Stocking Fillers

Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month the team chooses a them to inspire our creations. Hop along with our international craft team and be inspired by this month’s projects.

Our theme for November is “Stocking Fillers.” At our house, stockings are a BIG deal on Christmas morning. We fill the stockings with some annual treats like magazines, bath bombs, and puzzles, and then whatever the highlighted treats of the year are. Now that my kids are grown, we all contribute to the magic. One of the best parts is each of the stocking gifts are wrapped in tissue paper, themed in colour for each person. It is a really fun moment that the whole family looks for it.

For my project, I wanted to show a card with a stocking brimming with wrapped gifts. I used the stocking from the Sending Cheer Bundle as the focal point of my card. The tag and gifts are incorporated from the Merriest Trees Bundle.

I used the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks along with the Matte Embossing Paste to create the snowflake background. I also used the Embossing Paste to create the fluffy topper on the stocking. The Embossing Paste is a great way to add texture to the project. Here’s how to create the snowflake background:

  1. Layer the mask over the Whisper White card front. I like to use my grid paper to line it up so it’s straight, and a piece of tape to hold it still
  2. Use the Pallet Knives to spread the Embossing Paste over the mask.
  3. Remove the mask to reveal the snowflakes. Be sure to wash your tools immediately so the paste doesn’t dry on them and make them lumpy.

I love the textures and layers on this card and the little gifts peaking out.

Be sure to hop along with the rest of the team to see more projects featuring stocking stuffers. You can find the list of the participating blogs here:
