Totally Techniques – Creating Stencils With Dies

Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our international design team chooses a technique to feature and we each share our version of the projects. This month we are featuring “creating stencils with dies.” This is especially exciting for June because of our bundle sale from Stampin’ Up! until June 30. I was so excited to share projects showcasing this technique, using the “Sketched Butterflies” bundle. I used the butterfly dies to create a mask. Using a blending brush, I added the “shadow” butterfly to the designer series paper background. I love that it looks like the shadows come from the die-cut stamped images.

I also added the shadow idea to a gift tag. The detailed vellum and the tag are sneak peeks of online exclusives that will be released in July. Stay tuned!

The last project has a pretty easy fancy fold. Cut the cardstock 1.5″ from each side, just to the seam of the card. This creates the middle seam. Attach the focal point of the project to both outside flaps. This allows them to open as one.

This gives and extra layer in the card which is extra fun!

I added the pocket inside of the flap which is just large enough to add a gift card!
