Totally Techniques – Ink Smooshing

Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop. I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our international design team chooses a technique to showcase. Techniques are a great way to elevate your card making. Be sure to hop along with the team to be inspired and see some great ideas.

This month our technique theme is “ink smooshing.” This is a great way to create blended backgrounds that are organic and unique. Here’s what you’ll need to try this technique:

You’ll need:

  • Fluid 1000 Watercolor Paper
  • 2-3 ink pads of your choice
  • Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water

Here’s how to achieve this beautiful background:

  1. Smoosh your ink pad colours onto a glass mat or window sheet. Be sure to layer them closely, but not overlap them.

2. Spritz the surface with water and lay the watercolor paper over the puddle.

3. Remove and allow to dry.

I used this background as the focal point of my card with the Hearts & Hugs Bundle.

I love how the background looks like a sunset with the cute little critter in a garden!

Be sure to hop along with the rest of the team to see some more amazing projects using the Ink Smooshing technique.
