Totally Techniques – Ways to Use Watercolor Pencils

Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our team chooses a technique to feature. Hop along to see all of the different projects made by our talented team!

This month, our team is featuring the very versatile Watercolor Pencils. These pencils come in two different sets and are used for for watercolouring stamped images. You can use them with Water Painters, Blender Pens, or on their own to get multiple looks and textures.

I love how you can use Watercolor Pencils to add texture to an image. I used the Yeti to Party set to make my project and wanted to give the yeti a feel of having fur.

I used three pencils: Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, and Whisper White to cross hatch and then blended with Blender Pens. It gives the feeling of movement and fur.

Using Blender Pens it’s easy to add cheek colour as well as the blending around the feet and face.
