Totally Techniques – Cling Wrap Background

Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our team chooses a technique to feature. Hop along to see all of the different projects made by our talented team!

April’s featured technique is called “Cling Wrap Background.” This uses your kitchen plastic wrap to create a really fun background effect.

Here’s how to accomplish this technique:

  1. Use your Classic Ink Pad and apply the ink directly to the plastic wrap.
  2. Spray the inked plastic wrap with alcohol or water. I prefer alcohol as it evaporates and dries much faster.
  3. Place your cardstock on the plastic wrap to transfer the inked design to your cardstock. You can use either Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper or regular cardstock.

The effect is incredible!

My project uses the background overlaid with the new Lovely Layers Vellum (158919).

I love how the background is filtered through the vellum and the plant print. I stamped the plant image in Versamark and embossed with White Embossing Powder to add extra texture.
