Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month our team chooses a featured technique and showcases our project using it. This is a great hop to get get ideas from crafters around the globe!
This month, our team chose the technique “Die-cut Spotlight” Technique. To achieve this technique, you will use a die to cut out a shape from a larger pattern so it can become the focal point of the card.
For my project, I sort of took the opposite approach and left the detail in the rest of the paper, and kept the spotlight without detail.

The Saleabration paper “Sunshine & Rainbows” (158126) perfectly coordinates with the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle (157727, $60.25). I used the dies from the Brilliant Rainbow Dies to cut out the rainbow from the paper, then layer it over Basic Black Cardstock so the spotlight is on the black cardstock.

I used the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper and the Gumball Machine Dies to create the adorable glitter heart raindrops.

Although this isn’t the traditional way of approaching this technique, I felt the black paper still had the “wow factor” that the spotlighting offers!
