The Soft Pastels Assortment is a much appreciated, new colouring tool in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. I’m a huge fan of colouring and an even bigger fan of techniques, so when these two things can be combined into one product, I’m a happy crafter!
During Episode 58 of my series “Why Did I Buy This?,” I shared 4 different techniques using the Soft Pastels Assortment. One not to ignore is creating beautiful backgrounds!
I made the blue background on this card by colouring the pastels directly to Basic White Cardstock. Then I took a trusty baby wipe, and swiped it across the background in a circular motion to be able to get the soft, blue effect. The Quiet Meadow Stamp Set has perfect background images to complete the look.
Another way that the Soft Pastels Assortment came in handy on this card, was to colour the die-cuts. The Meadow Dies have BEAUTIFUL silhouette images of flowers, leaves and butterflies, so I used my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to die-cut the images on Basic White Cardstock. Then I used the pastels to colour the images, sealing the chalk with inexpensive hair spray (I know!!). This is a great option to have a selection of 8 colours for the affordable price of $12.25 CDN!
