Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month, our team shares techniques from around the world. It’s so fun to see every person’s take on the technique.
This month, we are showcasing Stampin’ Blends. These alcohol markers blend well and colour over multiple surfaces, making them great for multiple techniques.
My project is using Stampin’ Blends to colour over Vellum Cardstock. Vellum has somewhat of a plastic finish, making it tricky to have classic ink stick to it. That’s where Stampin’ Blends comes in to save the day. They colour wonderfully over the vellum and dry quickly!
I wanted to create the look of a water, so I coloured over the vellum with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends. Once I got the coverage I wanted, I used alcohol and spritzed “blobs” of alcohol to react with the ink on the vellum.

I love the reaction of the alcohol with the blends on the vellum! Here’s how it all came together to make my sweet whale card:

The Whale Done Bundle has been one of my favourites from the current annual catalogue, and the little whale fit perfectly into this ocean scene!

I got some help from the Shark Dies to create the waves on the vellum. Because vellum is transparent, I cut the cardstock larger than the card front and folded it around, using the adhesive on the back to hold the water in place.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of our team showcases with Stampin’ Blends! Be sure to follow along by clicking on the blue button below to see the blog hop list.
Thanks for stopping by! Have fun crafting!
