Why Did I Buy This? Sponge Daubers

Episode 23 of “Why Did I Buy This?” featured what I call a “necessity tool.” Sponge Daubers are one of those tools that I really couldn’t live without in my crafting space. There are so many ways to use them, and they have made an appearance in several past episodes, but this week I felt they deserved their turn in the spotlight.

I’m a huge fan of a blended background, and the Sponge Dauber remains the easiest and most affordable way to be able to do this. I prefer to use Shimmery White Cardstock, as it does allow the daubers to glide over the surface and blend the ink easily, however, any cardstock will work for this.

I dab the Sponge Dauber directly into an ink pad and then using little circles, apply the ink to the background. On this card, I incorporated Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana. Once I applied the ink, I gave the cardstock a fine mist of alcohol and used a dauber one more time to softly blend the colours together. This isn’t a “must do” step, but I like how it just seems to soften out the lines a little more.

Sponge Daubers are a great way to add a pop of colour to your background! Stay tuned for more techniques this week using these MUST HAVE tools, or tune in to the Episode 23 replay to see these cards in action.

  1. Hi Lynsay
I want to thank you very much for the beautiful card you sent in regard to Evelyne, yes she will be greatly miss by all. Also while I think about it I never received those blender pens that I won in August yet or am I mistaken.I also really like the card you did for epesiode 23.
