Each week on Fridays at noon, I host a Facebook Live called “Why Did I Buy This?” This started as a way to help crafters learn a variety of techniques that they can use with craft supplies that they have purchased. It also is a great tool for new crafters to learn which craft supplies will be a great addition to their collection.
Episode 12 of “Why Did I Buy This?” focused on a product that I can’t live without – Stampin’ Write Markers. These markers come in all 40 of Stampin’ Up!’s foundation colours as well as both sets of In Colors. They are great for colouring, but also have many more uses.
Here is one project that I shared using Stampin’ Write Markers as more than just a colouring tool.
This card features a technique called “marker thumping.” Here’s how to achieve this look:
- Ink a solid stamp in the lightest colour. For the hydrangea stamp I used Purple Posy.
- Choose a coordinating, but darker colour of Stampin’ Write Marker. “Thump” the marker over the solid, inked image.
- Spritz your stamp with water or alcohol then stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.
The effect of this technique is a subtle, watercolor look. I love how beautiful this turned out.
