Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Each month we feature a technique and our team showcases their creative talents, using that technique!
This month, it was my turn to choose and technique, and of course, I had to choose “watercoloring”
I love watercoloring! There are so many colouring tools that you can use to watercolor and it really is a beautiful way to add colour to a project!
For my project, I wanted to share a technique that I call “Two-step Watercoloring.” It’s a pretty simple technique that adds a whole other layer of texture to the image!
Here’s how to do it:
- Stamp a line draw image.
- Use the two-step stamp to fill in the image. Alternatively you can use Sponge Daubers.
- Use coordinating watercolor pencils to add shading.
- Use an aqua painter or blender pen to blend the extra pigment .
Here is a video on how I made today’s project:
I love the depth that Two-step Watercoloring adds! Here is my project:

Here’s a closer look at the colouring.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this twist on watercoloring!
