Why Did I Buy This? – Designer Series Paper

Have you ever looked at a craft supply and thought, “Why did I buy this?”

I have a series of Facebook Lives to help you explore different uses for a variety of Stampin’ Up! products. Whether you’re new to crafting, or have been an avid collector of supplies for years, these videos will help inspire you to pull out your supplies and turn them into cards!

You can view Episode 3 here. Today’s topic is Designer Series Paper

Designer Series Paper is something that is easy to collect!  It’s pretty, comes in packages of 12 sheets and has double sided print.  What many of my crafters have told me is they have trouble using the paper because it’s so pretty OR they only have used a small portion of it.

Here are a few examples of how you can use your designer series paper (DSP) to make amazing projects!

The first one I shared, showcased a technique from my buddy, Meg Loven. The idea is to use your DSP as your card base!  This makes a themed card that has patterned imagery on both the card front and the inside of the card!

Cut your DSP at 4″x12″.  Use a Simply Scored Tool and score at 5.5″ and 11″.  This creates a flap on the end to help reinforce the card.  It also allows for other ideas which you’ll see in the following cards.

The first card I showcased was this one using the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper:

Here is another card showcasing the DSP card base technique, but this time, we didn’t glue down the flap.  Instead it was turned into a kind of “match book” style card with a belly band:

A third way to incorporate in the DSP card base involves creating a pocket for sliding a gift card into:

And the final card I showcased, involves stamping on the DSP, and embossing in clear to create an embossed resist look:

I shared it in two different colours:
