Welcome to August’s Totally Techniques International Design Team Blog Hop! I am Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This month we are focusing on Embossing Paste. Embossing paste comes in both matte white and shimmery white:

The beauty of the embossing paste being white, is you can dye it any of the colours you’d like! I am showcasing two different ways that you can change your embossing paste.
The first project I’m showcasing uses an ink refill to dye the embossing paste directly:
I added Staz On to the Shimmery Embossing Paste to get a true, dark black as I wanted to add texture to the new Coffin Treat Boxes from the Holiday catalogue. This also uses the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks from the Holiday Catalogue. The Holiday Catalogue goes live on Sept. 4, so be sure to watch for these upcoming items!
A tip I’d like to share is to be sure to add the Tear & Tape onto the box flaps before you add the embossing paste. Although the paste does dry quickly (about 5-10 mins) it will make it much easier to assemble your box if you add the tape first. You can see how it’ll be easy to remove the backing once the embossing paste is dry:
Once the paste is dry, assemble the box and add your decor:
These cute Coffin Treat Boxes will be perfect for all the good little ghouls and boys that I want to do a special Halloween treat for!
The next colouring method I wanted to share involves an ink refill as well, but this time we are going to use it in a spray bottle.
To start with, apply the wet embossing paste directly onto white cardstock:

add embossing paste through the mask

Here is what you’ll have when the mask is removed
Fill a spray bottle with water and about 10 drops of coordinating ink refill. Before the embossing paste dries, spritz the paper until you have the desired saturation and allow to dry:
Once it’s dry, I’d recommend using Tear & Tape as your adhesive. It’s much stronger and will help with the weightier paper that may have curled during the drying process. Here is the finished project. It would be a great thank-you card during the winter season:

Here is the Product List for these projects. Our Holiday Catalogue products go live on Sept. 4, so be sure to check back then to shop for your favourites! If you live in Canada, you may click on the items below to be transferred to my online store to shop for these, and other Stampin’ Up! products:
Oh how pretty. I love the Coffin Treat Box with the texture. Halloween is my favorite!
