Welcome to the Totally Techniques International Design Team blog hop!  I am Lynsay Mahon, from Edmonton, Canada, and you have just arrived here from the talented Nadine Weiner from Germany.

This month we are focusing on a technique called “Emboss Resist.”  The basics of the technique are:

  1. Choose a bold stamp image (the more solid the better).
  2. Stamp the image in versamark ink.
  3. Sprinkle with embossing powder and heat emboss.
  4. Cover the embossed image with ink.

You can stamp on any kind of paper!  One of my favourite things to do is stamp a bold image over designer series paper, so the embossed image shows the designs through it.  I decided to try something a little different – I embossed on a Memories & More card!

You can see the design of the paper through the clear embossing powder after I brayered Flirty Flamingo Classic ink over the card.

For my second project, I experimented with the ink application over the embossing.  This time I embossed the image in white embossing powder.  Then I mixed 15 drops of  old olive reinker with rubbing alcohol in a stampin’ spritzer.  I sprayed over the image to be able to create the resist image. Again, I used Memories & More cards as the decorative paper.

I love how subtle the effect is!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the rest of the blog hop – we have a talented group of demonstrators from around the world sharing their version of this technique!  Keep hopping by clicking the links below:

  1. Oh, my goodness! I would never have thought to use Memories & More in this way. Love it Lynsay. Two awesome projects, but that one is my personal fav ♥
