I Can See Clearly Now – Clear Card Bases

Every once and a while, it’s fun to switch up the traditional card and try something new! I was inspired by this video by Jennifer McGuire to try this type of card template.  Stampin’ Up! has a new stamp set called Fabulous Flamingo that is perfect for replicating this card style!

To create this card, I used vellum card stock as the base.  It’s thick enough to hold the weight of the card front, but still provides the see through effect we are looking for here. On the background of the vellum, I stamped the Watercolor Wash Background stamp in Pool Party and then embossed it in clear.  Embossing is an important step, as ink does not dry well on the vellum card stock.

Do you love embossing?  Check out this new video by Stampin’ Up! showcasing a few different embossing techniques!

Using this same clear card base technique, I made this card:

This time I used Window Sheets cut to a standard card size of 4.25″ x 11″.  I folded it in half and ran it through my bigshot using the hexagons embossing folder.

This is a really fun way to change up your card bases and give a peek-a-boo effect that will make the recipient smile!
