Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop!  I’m Lynsay Mahon and you have arrived in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

When I saw embossing paste was coming to the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue, I may have squealed a little!

141979_embossing_paste I LOVE products that inspire different techniques and embossing paste is one of those products!  There are so many things to try and this blog hop is a great way to see some of those techniques in action.

Here’s a technique that you’ll want to try out!

Here’s how to achieve this look:

  1. Use an embossing folder like this as the receptacle for the embossing paste.  It’s important to put the paste on the side of the folder that has the image depressed, so that it holds the paste.  On Stampin’ Up!’s embossing folders, it’s the side with the logo.
  2. Smooth the paste until it fills in the image then place your paper inside the folder. My preference in paper for this technique is Shimmery White.
  3. Close the folder and bang it with your fist (no big shot needed), so that enough of the paste transfers onto the paper to show the image.
  4. Remove the paper to see the image.  It won’t be perfect, but this style is kind of a “mixed media” look and so partial images look great!
  5. Create 2 colour spritzers using these.  To make the dye, fill each spritzer with water and add 10 drops of re-inker per spritzer.  I used Flirty Flamingo and Peek-a-boo Peach on this card.
  6. Spritz the paper until it reaches the colour you’d prefer.
  7. Allow to dry.  You’ll find the paper curls a bit from being wet, so after it’s dry, use a very strong adhesive to mount it on your card base so it lays flat. I use this one.

I’ve had so much fun with this technique! Here’s a closer look at the background:

I’m getting ready to go on the Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip to Thailand, and one of the activities planned is an organized swap!  I loved this technique so much that I decided to use it on my swap cards!  Here’s a sneak peak of what I’ll be swapping:

Here you can see background is made with embossing paste and the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The spritzer colours are Pool Party and Lemon Lime Twist.

The daisy is embossed with a custom mix of white embossing powder and dazzling diamonds glitter:

To make 26 swap cards, I had a whole lot of daisies to cut out.  Thankfully, the daisy punch made the cutting very easy:
