Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop! I’m Lynsay Mahon and you have just arrived in Alberta, Canada! Thanks for joining us!
This month, our featured products come from our new catalogue (available June 1): the Wood Textures Suite. As soon as I saw this suite, I was in love. The Wood Textures designer series paper is my favourite part of the suite. Think multiple wood grains and colours in a conveniently sized 6×6 designer series paper stack! Here is a video to show you the products in the suite:
I’ve been on a watercoloring kick recently, and so I decided to try my hand at watercoloring directly onto this designer paper.
I stamped the image with Archival Black ink directly onto the woodgrain paper. Then, I used watercolour pencils by Stampin’ Up! and coloured onto the image enough pigment that I could blend it well with a blender pen. The effect allows the wood texture to show through the image!
There are numerous sheets of lighter coloured wood grains in this designer series paper stack, and I tried a few to see the different effects. Here is another design. The layout was inspired by a pinterest sample I saw by the Bald Dragonfly Designs.
Again, I stamped in Archival black and used the watercolour pencils to add pigment and blended with the blender pen. The watercolour pencils have neutrals like white, brown, black and grey added in the pack, and the white really allowed me to add some highlighting to the petals of the flower from Birthday Blooms. I love how it gives it kind of a sepia quality.
