Shadow Box Cards

At first glance, this card looks complicated.  But in reality, it’s quite simple!  First let me show you the finished cards and then I’ll show you how it’s done.

I did two different themes.  The first is an easter card using the Basket Bunch bundle which is ridiculously cute!

First the front of the card.  From the outside it looks like a regular card:

But when you open it up…

Seriously!  how cute is that??!

My card club is making this card style in February.  Check out the version they are making using one of the new Sale-a-bration reward stamp sets, Reverse Words, which will be available in Canada on February 21 for free!  You can see all three new products that are being added to the reward collection on Feb. 21 here on my blog! These products are free with a $60 Canadian order.

First the front of the card:

And then the inside:

Right??!  I love this folding technique so much!  Thanks to my friend Kristine Burns who gave me a swap card a while back with this same technique!

Here’s how to do it:

1. Cut your paper so that is 10.5X5.5″

2. Score at 3.5″, 6.5″, 7″ and 10″

3. Using the Layering Ovals Framelits , cut an oval into the section of your card stock between the 7″ and 10″ scorelines.

4. Add tear tape to the 1/2″ strip after the 10″ score line.

5. Decorate the card how you like (see examples above).

6. Fold on the score lines and adhere the tear tape to the top flap of the card so the section with the oval forms a small box.

If you live in Canada, you can purchase these supplies on my online store to make the Easter card.  Remember, every $60 order until March 31 will receive a free Sale-a-bration reward of your choice!
