I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

Last week, I was in the thick of project creation and I was stuck.  I had fallen in love with a layout from a swap card that my friend Judy Heilik had given me.

I love how she used the Gorgeous Grunge Background Stamp to create the rainbow effect that the butterfly punch is layered on.

That gave me an idea!  The Flurry of Wishes Bundle has a perfectly coordinating snowflake punch.  What if I used the gorgeous grunge stamp set to create a similar background and the snowflake punch in place of the butterflies.  Here’s what it looked like:

It’s ok.  But it wasn’t my favourite.  That’s where I got a little help from my friends.  You guys were awesome.  I posted on my Facebook Page that I needed design help and you all came through for me!

I incorporated a lot of the changes including:

• keeping colours within the monochromatic blues
• softening the background splash using the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set
• stamping off the background stamp to soften the colours
• stamping the Flurry of Wishes stamp in coordinating colours before punching the snowflake
• sponging the edges of the snowflake to make it pop
• adding glitter!

I think it really worked well!  Here’s another picture to try to show the splatter of glitter that is on the front:

Here’s how I added the glitter splatter:

1. Add a dab of tombo glue to a pallet that can be washed off.
2. Use an aqua painter to add a little water to the glue and make it “soupy”
3. Pick up the gluey liquid with an aqua painter and splatter onto your card
4. Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds glitter onto the card and allow to dry.
