Hawaii Achievers’ Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Up! Hawaii Achievers’ Blog Hop! You likely arrived here from Jacque Williams’ Blog.

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators have the opportunity to earn incentive trips as one of the perks of our jobs. These all expenses paid trips for two have taken us to many places around the world!  In fact, we just returned from the Hawaii incentive trip that took us to Waikiki, Oahu.

Now, you would think that Hawaii would be a big enough incentive on it’s own, right?  However, Stampin’ Up! makes every achiever feel like royalty with all sorts of perks on the trip including special events, excursions and probably the most anticipated of all: Pillow Gifts.

Imagine this: You’ve had a beautiful day exploring Oahu.  You are sun kissed, well fed and happy.  You saunter back to your hotel room to get into your PJs and when you walk into your room, you see the Pillow Gift fairy was there while you were out!  On your bed is a beautifully decorated gift from Stampin’ Up!

In Hawaii we received all sorts of goodies: beach bags, local quilted hand bags, a locally made necklace and of course: stampin’ supplies from the new catalogue!

Today I’m sharing projects that are inspired by this beautiful quilted bag I received as a pillow gift.  Quilting is huge in Oahu!  I saw many quilts and quilted bags for sale. This particular one is lovely because it coordinates perfectly with one of our new In Colors: Mint Macaron.

I decided to continue on the quilting theme as well as use the colour theme of Mint Macaron and Whisper White.  Check out this card using the Faux Quilting Technique:

Here is a quick tutorial on how to make the Faux Quilted Technique:

Step 1: Punch out squares of designer series paper using the 1″ square punch.  On  a 3×3″ square of whisper white card stock, adhere the 1″ squares in the pattern you like.

Step 2: Once your squares are in place, sandwich into an embossing folder of your choice and run through the big shot.  This gives you the textured “quilted” look.

Step 3: Use a white uniglo gel pen to add faux stitching around the squares to complete the quilted look.

I brought home some Hawaiian salts for my friend who watched our pets while we were away and packaged them up using the same technique, this time for a tag:

Your next stop on the blog hop is with my friend, Georgia Giguere!  I know you’ll love her projects

  1. Gorgeous projects! They’re very soft and delicate. I have to say Mint Macaron is my favorite of the new In Colors, especially with that beautiful lace to match.

  2. Totally totally rocked the “inspired by” theme Lynsay. Love how well-matched your card and tag are to the Quilted bag. And the Mint Macaron does make a lovely baby card. Hmmmmmm. 🙂 So happy to have had a chance to see you in Hawaii. Have a terrific weekend my friend! God Bless, ~Cynthia <
